"I travelled nearly 3 hours to Owen Sound from Toronto for an early morning meeting and decided on a scenic detour home along the 26 that led me to Meaford. I rarely eat alone and stopped at this quaint restaurant owned by two lovely proprietors named for the restaurant. Good natured, friendly and immensely good looking, I learned we’re all from the same neighborhood in Toronto.
The menu is posted on a Chalk Board that changes daily. Gio and Fran love to cook and this showed in the manner they presented the food and in their careful preparation. They decided to surprise me with an off-menu tender Veal dish, soaked in a full-flavored sauce with freshly baked pizza bread topped with mushrooms. The Veal was executed perfectly and you can taste the fresh ingredients that made it a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach. Though I would love to be selfish and keep Gio & Fran all to myself, the restaurant is simply too good to stay hidden for long." -Stanley L. |

Exceptional. Superlative. 5 plus stars!
If you're mindful; all of your senses will be delighted! Friday is a busy day at Gio & Fran's because of the local Farmers' Market. Fran kept her cool...I only saw Gio once! He left the kitchen to get some fresh air and to speak to a senior customer and he was ever so gracious! There was a friendly banter... the customer said that he loved the spring pea soup and foccacia and when Gio walked by him he said how much he loved Gio's cooking. He said "Fran made the soup and the foccacia…" To which the customer replied "So what do you do Gio?" and he said, "Nothing. I'm the pretty face around here!” To which Fran replied, "Not pretty...beautiful!" I could write a novel about one luncheon... save your eyes and just go eat at Gio & Fran's! - Jeanette L.M. |
